empire records

This film was a big deal for me growing up. It's pretty much the reason I wanted to (and did) work in a music store.

I haven't watched it for years, but my favourite parts are forever embedded in my memory. Liv Tyler's super perfect angora sweater and mini-kilt combo, and her over achieving early morning cupcake baking - "There are 24 useable hours in every day!".
The soundtrack (I played it on incessant repeat). Socking it to the man and making sure the independent Empire Records store doesn't get made into a Music Town.

Warren: Who glued these quarters down?
A.J.: I did.
Warren: What the hell for, man?
A.J.: I don't feel that I need to explain my art to you, Warren.

The revolting Rex Manning. Crazy Lucas and his ill-fated gambling (and the best lines in the film - "Who knows where thoughts come from, they just appear" and "What's with today, today?".

Depressive Debra and the scene where she shaves her head.

Gina: Well "Sinead O'Rebellion." Shock me shock me shock me with that deviant behavior.
Debra: God, that is so clever. I swear you get smarter the shorter your skirt gets.

Mark the stoner. And, of course, the love story between AJ (total hottie) and Corey.

I'm totally getting this out at the video store tonight.
