I have an intense love for cheesy 80s teen movies, but I hold a special place in my heart for Pretty in Pink. The John Hughes classic follows Andie (played by Molly Ringwald), a new waver who makes her own clothes, as she falls in love with Blaine, the dullest character ever to be put on film. The catch is that he's rich, she's poor, and her best friend Duckie is in love with her. Sigh, it was so dramatic being a teenager in the 80s.
But back to the best part of the film, Duckie. Played to perfection by Jon Cryer, Duckie is the dorky best friend with a killer wardrobe, great taste in music and a knack for coming up with the best one-liners. "This is a really volcanic ensemble you're wearing, it's really marvelous!" Why Andie chose Blaine over Duckie, I will never understand. I mean, come on - he serenaded her with Otis Redding! Swoon.
