Despite this recent blip of pure commercial left field weirdness, I love Lynch's work. In fact, I think he's my favourite director (this will change three times this week, admittedly). I'm forever fascinated by his 1990 TV series Twin Peaks, in particular Audrey Horne, played by Sherilynn Fenn ("so good at being bad"). A dead homecoming queen, secret lovers, cocaine traces, sultry daughters, sullen bikers, small towns. I love it.

I found Eraserhead very hard to watch, but I love Blue Velvet (the best use of a Roy Orbison song in a film, or indeed, ever) and the sprawly LA-ness of Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive. It's eerie and uncomfortable and confusing, and that's how I like my films to be.

The most recent issue of Russh has a great article about Lynch's women by Luke Crisell, who is rapidly becoming my favourite fashion and lifestyle feature writer - he writes for everyone from Nylon to Elle.
