paper cups

A couple of months ago I interviewed Andy Uprock for Yen - he's the Cuprocking guy who makes art out of paper cups stuck in fences. Doesn't sound much, but it's pretty and patterned twist on graf; a clever use of an everyday object in a public space. And impermanent too, which is nice.

My most treasured 'home' things are a set of these white, crushed 'paper' porcelain cups, designed by Rob Brandt, which are up there in the running for 'one of the best gifts from a boyfriend'.

And this morning, I received an email about Tara Donaldson, a New York artist whose 2003 Untitled installation series that utilises the humble styrofoam cup. How beautiful is it? I want it to be my bedroom ceiling, it'd be like waking up in weird clouds every morning!
