By all accounts, if you haven’t seen this film it sounds creepy as fuck. A 17 year old boy with a 75 year old woman? Like, with with? Yuck! But, in reality it’s beautiful and magic and reinspires faith in love and all those good things we need reminding of sometimes. There's a reason it's got a cult following - Wes Anderson references it in Rushmore, and created a special part for 'Harold' in The Life Aquatic.
Harold is a coddled yet ignored child of English aristocrats – lonely, bored, he spends much of his time pulling elaborate suicide stunts and attending the funerals of people he doesn't know.

Until he meets Maude, who makes him excited about life again.

They fall in love...but I won't ruin the ending - it's sad and happy at the same time.

I like Maude's plaits...

And the soundtrack is cute as well- Cat Stevens (cringe) wrote songs especially for it. The best one is If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out.
