craft is a hand job

Now, I'm the last person in the world who can legitimately talk about 'craft'. I've no time, very little patience and to be honest, I lack the inclination entirely to make 'something'.. I can write for hours, but ask me to knit, sew or draw? No chance.

I can barely sit still long enough to watch a movie, and I failed sewing in the third form. Although I got really good marks in woodwork. You'd think that'd translate to being able to put shelves together, but sadly not.

The point of this is: craft. So many people are doing it. I've always been of the mindset that it's a bit lesbian touch up, homespun Frankie magazine Miranda July, but I'm beginning to be swayed. It doesn't have to be at all, in fact, it's lovely. My flatmate is sewing cute toys right now, and it's inspired some latent domesticity in me. Admittedly, I know myself, and this is all a dream, but it is such a nice one.

I like: Sweetpea Home.

I want: a flourishing herb garden.

I'd like to make a feather or a flower headband like these ones or Alix below:

I've been contemplating baking this cake for three weeks but there are so many other things to do.

My friends Jess and Nicola make lovely toys - Jess for Incu and Nicola for Miss Crabb. Jess has just been in NY Magazine!

Last month, both UK Vogue and Lula talked about scrapbooking - artists like Rob Ryan do amazing paper craft, and people like Clemence Poesy and Alison from the Kills are mad scrapbookers - I've let it go, but I've got at least twenty Moleskines crammed with notes, designs and 'inspiring pictures' and photos.
