the godfather of gloom

I just bought tickets for Leonard Cohen. I'm so excited. I love him - he sounds like cigarettes and whisky and a bookish, snowy New York. Quiet and gracious.

Think of the moment in Secretary when I'm Your Man comes on, when Maggie Gyllenhaal is proving her love for James Spader.

And my favourite song, Chelsea Hotel #2. It's about his affair with Janis Joplin. It's beautiful.

"You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception."

What a bitch!

If you haven't seen it already, there's a great documentary about him called Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man - artists including Nick Cave and Jarvis Cocker join him on stage.
