music lessons

I am very excited, because my Dad is visiting this weekend and he's bringing my guitars! I haven't had them for so long, I'm sure I won't be able to play my favourite songs anymore. I have two, and they've been so good to me. They're both Fender. I saved my allowance for months and babysat countless brats when I was thirteen to buy my lipstick red Strat, and it was worth every single cent. I even played in the Rockquest when I was 15. We were terrible. It was awesome.

Then, when I got my first job in my last year of high school, I bought a beautiful acoustic, a Fender DG-4 (nothing special, but special to me). I took guitar lessons with a blind man near the Auckland Hospital in Grafton every Tuesday after school. Later, I found his debut album on tape at Real Groovy in the bargain bin. I still have it somewhere.

I think most girls go through a guitar phase- liking boys that play them, or playing them themselves. I'm glad mine's lasted - from murdering Nirvana and 'Blister in the Sun' to learning bar chords and scales, to the first time you play with another person. It's one of the best feelings in the world.

Doesn't Alexa look cute with her instruments? I hope like hell she can play them.
