The hairstyle of choice for young girls and porn stars, pigtails conjure up images of youth, innocence and cheekiness. Yes they can sometimes look porno and Lolita-esque (Lily Cole and French Playboy, I'm talking to you), but Wednesday Addams, Pippi Longstocking and Punky Brewster show that you can wear pigtails and look more mischievous and dark than slutty.Now that my hair is long, I've started wearing it in low pigtails a la Zooey Deschanel, but I'm also a fan of Anna Karina's curly pigtails in Une Femme est Une Femme. Perhaps it is a throwback to my Spice Girl days, when I was obsessed with having hair exactly like Baby Spice. But don't worry, I won't be channeling her any time soon.
