gifted

I love giving presents. In fact, I think it's my favourite thing to do. They don't have to be big things - in fact, I spend much of my procrastination time making little parcels for people, full of things they might like- pictures, sweets, pretty paper, mixtapes, postcards. Or, even just emailing people songs they might enjoy, sites they will love, pictures, film clips. It's nice to be nice - and if you give, you shall receive - although that's not really the point.

I love getting Zoe's parcels - they're always crammed with good things - makeup and perfume from the beauty cupboard, lollies and magazines I can't get in Australia, letters and of course, a mixtape, always a mixtape. Coming a close second are my ex-boyfriend's - he still sends me surprise dresses and little drawings from his son, which is very cute, although it makes me a bit sad and homesick.

There is something incredibly satisfying about getting it just right - finding that perfect little thing that the recipient will adore - that shows you've been listening, and that you care. And then wrapping it all and popping it in the post. Zoe's birthday is coming up soon, and I just found The Best Present Ever. The only problem with giving gifts is that I can't keep a secret, but this time I'm going to give it a try.
