look up

..skirts? No. Just up, in general. It's one of those trite things parents say when you're little - well mine did at least. That and "only boring people get bored", which I think is completely true. There are so many things to do - and not enough time to do them! How on earth anyone could ever be bored is beyond me entirely. And, so many things to look at that we miss - beautiful architraves, hidden birds nests, sky.

This is a picture of the Toronto skyline. The building at the bottom is the Toronto Dominion Centre and was designed by Miles Van Der Rohe, one of my favourite architects. Maybe even my most favourite. It reminded me of the Laneway Festival yesterday - it was good and all, but the best part was being in a completely incongruous setting, and looking up...and seeing something like this. I forgot my camera because I am no longer a social photographer, thank goodness.

I like extremes - lush greenery and quiet places, or futuristic, stark cityscapes - not in between and suburban, although the way Zoe wrote about it made kind of yearn for it, in some weird way.
