Named after the character Jenny Wren from Dickens' Our Mutual Friend (described sweetly on wren's website as a "sadly winsome little creature who makes dresses for dolls"), the L.A. based label is preppy, quirky and whimsical; made for girls who like to look cute while getting a bit messy, drinking and dancing with their BFF until 3am. It basically reflects my own style, which runs the gamut from childlike to bookish schoolgirl to nana-inspired. Everything on wren's blog reflects my taste too - Mia Farrow, Gidget, ponies, Picnic at Hanging Rock, girls in hats, Desperately Seeking Susan, Goldie Hawn, and an assortment of other pretty things.
So unsurprisingly, I love all of designer Melissa Coker's top 10 favourite things right now ... it may be my favourite top 10 yet.
1. Cats, especially my senior citizen cat, Pepper
Funny, weird creatures who play hard to get which gets me every time (seems to work on me with people too). Swoon.

2. Tim Walker photographs
Pure perfection. HE IS MAGIC!

3. Vintage sequins and shine
I have scraps of sequins, antique mirrors and random shiny bits all over my house. If I could, I would wear it all, because I am a magpie and would like to look like that everyday.

4. Indie, girlie mags like Lula and Russh
Ladies after my own heart. When Lula did a wren shoot I just about exploded I was so excited.
5. Girl bands
The Ronettes, The Shangri-las, The Like! Tennessee Thomas in wren = HEAVENONEARTH. I like the idea of girls running in gangs. Good girls gone bad + big trouble.

6. Tokyo
My absolute favorite place to visit on earth. Constant fantasies of running away and moving there run through my head.

7. Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles
Infamous, golden-era Hollywood hotel with a dark and sordid yet completely glamorous past. Former home to everyone from F.Scott Fitzgerald to Clark Gable to, yawn, Lindsay Lohan, and it's said to be haunted.
8. Flea markets L.A. really does have some amazing monthly markets and digging for home things is far more satisfying than adding to the wardrobe, according to me. I really love interior design and, when I was five or so, thought that's what I wanted to be when I grew up.

9. wren lookbook shoots
After months and months of prep it all culminates in the shooting of the lookbook. I always try to cast a pal or a friend of a friend so everything feels more personal and real. We all drink loads of champagne and listen to music and have fun.

10. Pink
It's cute, girly, winsome and I love it. On fingers + toes, in clothes, on a wall, all of it. Especially love it with red.
