act locally

Charity and ethics. No matter how many grandiose statements you make about being open-minded and wanting to help people, for the most part, you're probably like me, guiltily scuttling past a homeless person knowing full well you have a $20 note in your wallet, passionately entreating people to give blood, recycle and stop eating so much meat yet buying socks and underwear made in unsavoury conditions. Not to be preachy, but we could all do a little more than we do, well, I know I could, that's for sure.

The point of this spiel is, and excuse the late notice, but, if you're in Auckland tonight, why don't you come to this charity auction at the Northern Steamship Company? This beautiful girl Mira has a rampant form of melanoma, and her friends are holding the event from 6pm tonight to raise money for her super-expensive form of treatment.

Hope to see you there, and if you need more information, you can find it right here.
